ROLE OF SUPPLIER EVALUATION SYSTEMS IN IMPROVING GOODS PROCUREMENT OUTCOMES
ABSTRACT
Efficient goods procurement is critical for organizational performance, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain reliability. In recent years, supplier evaluation systems have become essential tools for assessing vendor capability, quality, price competitiveness, delivery performance, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. This study examines the role of supplier evaluation systems in improving goods procurement outcomes across public and private sector organizations. The study investigates how systematic supplier evaluation influences procurement efficiency, product quality, cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management. A descriptive research design was adopted, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to procurement officers, supply chain managers, and purchasing personnel. The findings reveal that organizations that implement structured supplier evaluation systems record significantly improved procurement performance, reduced lead times, enhanced product quality, and better decision-making in supplier selection. The study concludes that supplier evaluation systems are crucial for ensuring transparency, accountability, and overall effectiveness in procurement processes. It recommends that organizations adopt standardized evaluation criteria, utilize digital procurement tools, and conduct continuous performance monitoring to strengthen supply chain outcomes and achieve sustainable procurement efficiency.
